ZDC kicks off competition season

Ziegler Dance Centre’s Z Dance Troupe recently attended Star Power Talent Competition at Vo-Tech in Sparta. 
The Z Dance Troupe consists of 84 dancers from the Sussex County area, from beginner to advance competitive levels. The troupe competes in all genres of dance from ballet to hip hop, lyrical to musical theatre and everything in-between. The dance troupe is under the direction and choreography of Peggy Ziegler, Renee Ziegler Schmidt, Doreen Ziegler and Bonnie Sybesma. 
There were over 49 dances that placed in the Top Ten Overall for their division as well as 1st place in their category. Some dances also received special recognition from the judge’s with a “Judge’s Special Award”.  
Soloist Kyleigh Doyle, Vernon, won 1st Overall with her lyrical dance “There’s a Place For Us” in the petite intermediate division. As well as a scholarship to be a part of Power Pak dancers.
Vocal soloist Sadie Smaldino, Vernon, won 1st Overall with her vocal “How Far I’ll Go” in the advance division.
Jazz Trio “Girlz” performed by Kayleigh Doyle, Ava Pecoraro, Brooklyn Sybesma all from Vernon won 1st Overall in the petite intermediate division.
Jazz Trio “Americano” performed by Ava Berner, Hardyston, Makayla Snyder, Franklin, and Sophia Van Leuven, Vernon. won 1st Overall in the junior advance division.
Hip hop large Group “Ghostbusters” won 1st Overall for the intermediate petite division.
Jazz small group “That’s How We Do” petites won 1st Overall in the intermediate division. These dancers also won the “SDA” highest scoring petite intermediate division.
Tap small group “Bell Hop Boogie” in the junior advance division won t Outstanding Tap highest scoring tap routine.
Ballet small group “Edelweiss” in the junior advance division won Outstanding Ballet, highest scoring ballet routine.
Acrobat Small Group “Ricochet” won 1st Overall for the advance division. These dancers also won the “SDA” highest scoring advance division and the highest technical score for all 11 and under dances. Peggy Ziegler won Best Choreography for this routine in the junior division.
Senior ballet group “The Arena” won Outstanding Ballet, highest scoring Ballet routine for all advance division ballet dances.
Teen musical theatre group “The Jam” won Most Entertaining for all 12 and older dances.
Teen musical theatre production “Willy Wonka” dancers won a scholarship to “Wild Dance Convention”
Dances “That’s How We Do”, “Ricochet”, and “Willy Wonka” won a “golden ticket” to World Dance Championships. The tickets put them straight to the Championship round to compete against dancers from around the U.S. and World.
Power Pak winners: Bailey Mann, Kyleigh Doyle of Vernon, Sydney Bosma of Vernon, Reese Decker of Hamburg, Kayla Wallace of Vernon. Power Pak is an exclusive, dance intensive comprised of the most elite dancers from all across the country. Power Pak participants are hand selected and receive invitations at all Star Dance Alliance events.
