Promotion day is always an important milestone for any martial artist, but for kids the day all your hard work pays off with a new stripe or belt is positively exhilarating.
Miller Brothers MMA & Fitness’ kids martial arts coach Maurice Johnson was able to give that moment to 16 hard-working students in his Big and Little Spartans Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program.
Instructor Johnson’s daughter Lilly led the way with her promotion to Yellow Belt, and was joined by one of her primary training partners as Caitlin Frey received her Yellow and White Belt. Another pair of frequent partners also received belts together, with both Lincoln Andres and Anthony Reyes earning their Grey and White Belts.
In addition to the four students who earned new belts, 12 students received new stripes on their belts, showing they are one step closer to earning a new belt. The promotions were: Grey and Black Belt, First Stripe (Josh Enberg); Grey and White Belt, Fourth Stripe (Kristin Frey); White Belt, Fourth Stripe (Shaan Balkar); White Belt, Third Stripe (Myles Berkowitz, Sophia DeNapoli, Dexter Liddle, Mason Reed); White Belt, Second Stripe (James DeSilver, Connor Frey, Nolan Reed); White Belt, First Stripe (Noah Ferrer, Aubrey Schopper).
