Thank you, first responders

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the men and women of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office as well as the many first responders, local fire departments and first aid squads who assisted our county residents during Nor’easters Riley and Quinn. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our County Administrator, Greg Poff, as well as all of the County Department Heads for their assistance at the Office of Emergency Preparedness.
When duty called, all of our emergency personnel within the county did not hesitate to come out and assist their fellow county residents. As the Sussex County Emergency Management Coordinator, I could not be happier with all of the personnel working together to keep everyone safe. A great deal of planning and coordination goes into emergency management, not only at the county level but at the state and municipal levels. This was a joint effort among a variety of organizations.
Our County 911 Communications Center performed flawlessly in handling a variety of 911 calls for assistance. During both Nor’easters, our County 911 Dispatch Center handled 1,200 calls for Police, Fire and EMS services. I want to thank the dispatchers for their hard work and dedication to our County and in ensuring that emergency services were delivered to our residents.
