John F. Dunn

    John F. Dunn, (Jack) 80, passed away on Monday March 19, 2018. He was born in Margaree Forks, Nova Scotia Canada on April 13, 1937, to the late David and Mary (Gillis) Dunn.
    He quickly learned the value of hard work and responsibility while growing up on the family farm. As an adventurous soul at the age of 16 he decided to go out on his own. He traveled throughout the Canadian Providences working in Mining camps to earn a living. In 1958 he traveled to NYC to work with his Uncle Andy Dunn on commercial construction projects. He returned to Margaree Forks in 1960 where he later married a long time friend of the family Margaret Rose McDaniel of Margaree Forks. They relocated to the NYC. Shortly afterwards Jack was enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served during peace time in Colorado Springs Colorado.
    After serving in the U.S. Army he returned to the Bronx NY where he continued to work on construction projects. In 1969 Jack and Margaret moved their family to Glenwood N.J. In 1969 .Jack joined Union carpenters local 620 in Madison NJ. He was employed as a Union carpenter until his retirement in 2000. He always enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman hunter gardener and explorer. He was always available to give a hand to family, neighbors and friends. Jack was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales RC Church in Vernon,
    John was predeceased by his wife Margaret Rose (McDaniel) Dunn in 2005, His Parents David and Mary Dunn his five brothers Leo, Ronald, Jackie, David, and Andrew Dunn.
    John is survived by his 5 children, Lisa Katz of Lake Worth Fl., Ronald Dunn of Raleigh, NC, John Dunn of Glenwood N.J., Brenda Trowbridge of Winder Ga. and Alan Dunn of Glenwood NJ, his five grandchildren Stefan Katz, Nicole Dunn, Allison Dunn, Jessica Dunn, Kyle Trowbridge, his two sisters, Janet MacDonald of Windsor, NY and Marion Skinner of Inverness, NS Canada and his two brothers Hughie Dunn of Margaree Forks, NS Canada and Alex Dunn of Cheticamp, NS Canada, and his and his many nieces and nephews.
    Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday March 27th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home 241 Rt. 94 Vernon, NJ (GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Ct.). The family will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday March 28th at 9 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial service at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales RC Church, Vernon Twp., interment committal services at Glenwood Cemetery.
