The Center for Prevention and Counseling recently hired Ashley Brown as a Prevention Specialist.
Brown will be coordinating two new grants the agency was recently awarded with funding from the N.J. Department of Health, under the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services. One grant addresses the use of opioid pain relievers for sports-related injuries among youth athletes and the other focuses on alternative approaches to pain management in older adults.
Brown holds her Bachelors in Public Health Education from William Paterson University in Wayne, and is a Certified Health Education Specialist. Ashley previously worked with the United for Prevention in Passaic County Coalition under AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer In Service to America) and was recently a Demand Reduction Specialist with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program.
Brown, with her many skills, will be a great asset in helping to attain the mission of the Center for Prevention and Counseling, which is to promote health, hope and recovery among all people by fostering a community in which individuals and families thrive. For more information about either of these new grants, call the Center for Prevention and Counseling at 973-383-4787.
