Vernon honors outstanding athletes

The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. honored its outstanding athletes for Week 2 of the spring 2018 season.
Junior outside hitter/setter and Co-captain Andrew Lisa has had an outstanding start to the season for the boys volleyball Team. In three matches, he has 28 kills, 3 blocks, 24 digs and 35 assists. He even had a triple-double (13k, 10d, 13a) in a win against Pope John.
According to Coach DeYoung, Andrew is creative, athletic and willing to do whatever is asked of him to help the team succeed. The team feeds off his presence and steady demeanor.
Andrew is also a member of the indoor track team.
Sophomore Victoria Grifone had a strong start to her second season as starting pitcher for the varsity softball team. In facing 65 batters through the first three games in which Vernon went 2-1, Victoria only gave up five hits, 6 walks and struck out 38 batters. She also batted .375.
According to Coach Ludeking, Victoria has gotten much stronger and faster since last year. She is an extremely hard worker.
