Earthfest scheduled for April 29
VERNON — Vernon Chamber Charities will host its 18th Annual Vernon Earthfest event that celebrates active initiatives to protect the community¹s environment will be held at Heaven Hill Far on Sunday, April 29, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The event is open to all ages and features FREE admission. It is dedicated to preserving our environment through education and awareness, while promoting the natural beauty found in Vernon, NJ, according to Margaret Kranz, event chair.
This year The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) and the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference will officially designate Vernon, New Jersey, as the newest Appalachian Trail Community, revealed Kranz. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and will kick off the event.
Vernon Earthfest will appeal to all ages. Throughout the day there will be exciting shows, activities and entertainment, including the following:
Free guided hiking tours of the Appalachian Trail at 11
Live Animal Presentations Reptiles presented by Snakes & Scales,
Wallaby Tales and Delaware Valley Raptor Center.
Vernon¹s own Whiskey Crossing band, together will other area musicians,
will provide live, family friendly, music in our entertainment tent throughout the day.
Other activities will include face painting, a beekeeper with live
bees, gem mining, crafts with recyclable materials, flower planting and a giant 24 foot Inflatable slide!
There will be many spectacular vendors and food available to purchase throughout the day. Attendees are welcomed to bring clean plastic items for use by the local Girl Scout Troop who will demonstrate how plastic packaging materials and containers can be reused, repurposed and recycled.
