Tiane Howell, a Culinary Specialist at The Art Institute of Philadelphia recently visited Vernon Township High School’s Culinary Arts Department. Students in grades 9-12 Culinary Chef/Gourmet Foods classes watched a demonstration of making pretzels with a chocolate ganache dipping sauce, covering the techniques of scalding milk, cooking with chocolate, and various ways to use ganache in desserts, truffles, frosting and mousse.
Howell said she loves educating students about her passion for food and the professional possibilities in the culinary world. She was accompanied by her colleague Hope Clayton, a High School Representative for The Art Institute of Philadelphia whose professional background is in marketing, film, and photography and is an advocate for college access and success.
