K-9 unit introduced to VTHS students

K-9 Officer Comerro of Montclair State University came to Vernon Township High School’s Criminal Justice class to discuss his line of work.
Comerro introduced his dog, Rocky, to the class. Rocky works as a drug-sniffing dog, He also introduced his second dog, Blue, a black Lab to the class. Blue works as a bomb-sniffing dog. Both live at home with him and his family when they are not working out of the MSU police department.
He assists police departments and the State Police with investigations in all of northern New Jersey. He answered a wide variety of questions from students, including what happens to the dogs after their shift is over to his best K-9 drug bust. Comerro detailed the extent of training these dogs experience in order to work alongside the police.
