Historical society plans photo contest

The Vernon Township Historical Society is seeking photographs from amateur and professional photographers for an exhibit May 5 and 6.
Submissions will be accepted on April 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the society's museum headquarters at 293 Route 94 in Vernon. Photos will also be accepted by appointment. Call 973-764-6545 for information. Submissions are free of charge.
The photography exhibit is sponsored by the Society in conjunction with the Vernon Township High School Photography Department and high school photography students. The exhibit will be held at the Vernon Senior Citizens Center on May 5 from 5-9 p.m. and on May 6 from 1-5 p.m. On Sunday, May 6, there will be a reception with music by the Vernon Township High School Chamber Orchestra.
Photographs can include any subject matter, i.e. landscape, architecture, portrait, or fine art photography. Photographs must be a minimum of 8X10 inches in size and must be mounted. They should not be framed. Photographs may be black and white, color, hand-colored, digital, or chemical. Ribbons will be awarded for noteworthy photographs.
The Vernon Township Historical Society is a non-profit organization that raises funds for its many presentations and programs that are free to the public, hands-on workshops, summer camps, and other events.
To submit photographs or further information, please contact the Society at 973-764-6545. The society will hang the photographs on May 4 at 7 p.m. Volunteers wishing to help set up the photographs are welcome.
