Vernon honors outstanding athletes

The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. honored its outstanding for Week 3 of the spring 2018 season.
Senior Aila Altunbilek took first place in the 100-meter and 200-meter races last week against High Point. She had a time of 13.3 in the 100 meters and a time of 28.1 in the 200 meters.
According to Coach Ferguson, Aila is an outstanding leader and has great work ethic. She is admired by her peers, teachers and other coaches from the NJAC conference.
Aila also competes on the Varsity Volleyball and Indoor Track teams.
Junior Shane Brennan averaged a 40.7 last week as the Boys Golf Team went 2-1 for the week. Shane shot a 37 on the Quarry 9 at Great Gorge, a 41 on the Lake 9 at Farmstead and an 88 at Berkshire Valley 18-hole Kinnelon Tournament. According to Coach Byrne, Shane’s development from last year has been a big part of the Team’s early success this year.
Shane also participates on the Varsity ice hockey team where he serves as a captain.
