Miller Bros. scores four MMA wins

Miller Brothers MMA & Fitness is known for being the top mixed martial arts (MMA) team in northern New Jersey and continued to build on that reputation with four wins on Saturday spread out over two local MMA shows. Three fighters were victorious at PA Cage Fight 31 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, while Mike Amada saw his hand raised at Dead Serious MMA 28 in Freehold.
The school’s head Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Professor Sean “Shorty Rock” Santella was the headliner on the night. Ranked as the #1 Fly Weight outside of the UFC, he again showed why many are calling for him to get his shot in the world’s premier organization as he dominated Charles Johnson for a unanimous decision victory. Johnson was unable to get any effective offense going against Santella, as his fear of Santella’s world-class grappling skills kept the fight standing where Santella landed harder and more frequently. All three judges scored the bout for Santella, who maintained his PA Cage Fight Flyweight title.
The card’s co-main event saw Sparta’s Tyler Bayer take on Daniel Tolbert in a middleweight bout, and the Miller Brothers MMA fighter earned a first round stoppage. After Tolbert secured a takedown, Bayer immediately began looking to set up a submission, finally eliciting a tap via triangle choke less than halfway through the opening round.
Cristian Santos started the night for the Miller Brothers MMA team with a TKO victory in the opening bout of the event’s main card. Santos controlled the fight on the feet, landing a series of knees and punches to the body of his opponent, Christopher Sperow. The domination led Sperow to attempt to take Santos down to change things up, however it proved a false hope, as Santos reversed the position to come out on top, and landed unanswered strikes to force the referee’s intervention.
The perfect night was capped off by Mike Amada at Dead Serious 28 who took home a unanimous decision against Marquis Dames. Amada used his Division-I wrestling skills to dictate the fight, including an extended period in the mount in the second round, forcing Dames onto the defensive. The victory moved Amada to 2-0 as an amateur.
Next up for the Miller Brothers MMA fight team is UFC Fight Night 128, where coach Jim Miller will be taking on Dan Hooker at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
