Dance Expression dancers succeed at competition

Dance Expression dance arts racked up a pile of awards at the NEXSTAR Dance and Talent Competition April 28 at Sussex Technical High School in Sparta.
The Hardyston dancers won the Diamond Award, placed first overall and won the Special Performance Award for their production number “42nd Street,” as well as: overall high score and regional champions for 11 and under novice groups plus Choreography Award to “Hands in Da Air”; overall high score and regional champions for 12 and over novice groups to “Dream Girls”; overall high score and regional champions for 12 and over intermediate groups plus Choreography Award to “Turn to Stone”; high score and Choreography Award for novice small group 9-11 to “Tarantella”; high score for novice petite large groups to “Let Me Entertain You”; high score for novice line 9-11 to “Little Shop of Horrors”: high score for advanced teen large group to “Ready or Not”; high score for novice duet/trio 9-11 to “Who’s Got the Pain” (Julia Paton and Erin King of Vernon, Sabrina Smith of Sparta); and high score for intermediate duet/trio 9-11 to “Friend Like Me” (Julia Paton, Erin King).
In addition, DADA dancers scored more than 35 Platinum Awards and these Special Awards: TKO Award, “Gimme Some Lovin',” advanced large group senior open; Terrific Trio Award, “Big Noise” (Gianna Casselano, Gabby Rosanelli and Bella Capriglione of Hardyston); Personality Plus Award, “Forget About the Boy” (Alyssa Cohan of Hardyston); and the
Powerful Performance Award to “Unworthy” (Ashley Benecki of Hardyston).
