    April 17Jermaine Channer, 38, of New Rochelle, N.Y., pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault, a third-degree crime, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a second-degree crime and one count of burglary, a second-degree crime.
    Channer was arrested after he entered his wife’s home without permission in the early morning hours of June 20, 2017. He admitted to assaulting his wife in the presence of their child, and breaking bones in his wife’s face by punching her.
    Sentencing is presently anticipated for June 8, 2018.
    April 20Thomas Rae, 51, of Newteon was sentenced to a year of probagtion and 10 days in jail. He was ordered to refrain from alcohol in excess, attend two AA meetings per week, and pay fines and fees totaling $155 and a civil penalty of $2,000.
    He pleaded guilty on Feb. 26, 2018, to Misuse of 9-1-1, a fourth-degree crime.
    On Dec. 6, 2017, the defendant called 9-1-1 although he was not in need of emergency assistance.
    Gregory C. Luca, Jr., 33, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., was sentenced to three years in New Jersey state prison, ordered to pay fines and fees totaling $155 and restitution in the amount of $488.99.
    He pleaded guilty on Feb. 27, 2018, to one count of Shoplifting (a third Degree Crime).
    On three separate occasions in 2016, the defendant purposely concealed merchandise on his person and exited the Hampton Walmart without purchasing the items.
    April 23Thomas C. Ratliff, 50, of Bbudd Lake pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime.
    Sentencing is scheduled for June 1.
    In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to being in possession of 42 glassine bags of heroin on Aug. 11, 2017.
    The case was investigated by Sergeant Daniel Dewald of the Byram Police Department.
    April 24Alexa Awad, 28, of Newton was sentneced to four years of probation on condition that she served 180 days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facilityi or to be served in SLAP program, undergo random urine monitoring, continue current treatment, hand-write a letter of apology to the victim, submit a DNA sample and pay $155.00 in court fines and fees.
    She pleaded guilty on Feb. 13, 2018, to third-degree theft.
    The defendant took over $500 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s Department Store in Newton without paying for the items.
    April 26Kimberly Vantassel, 34, of Sussex, pleaded guilty to possession of a prescription legend drug, a fourth-degree crime, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime, joyriding, a fourth-degree crime, and two driving under the influence motor vehicle offenses, both third or subsequent convictions.
    Sentencing is scheduled for June 15.
    Vantassel was stopped for motor vehicle violations on Dec. 22, 2016, in Montague Township, and on Feb. 4, 2017, in Hampton Township. In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to being in possession of Oxycodone on Dec. 22, 2016, and Amitriptylin and/or Cefuroxime on Feb. 4, 2017, and to driving under the influence on both dates. The defendant also admitted to taking an individual’s car without permission on March 11, 2018, in Vernon.
