    April 27Richard Riffel, was sentenced to 120 days in jail with credit for 90 days time served. Riffel was also ordered to pay mandatory fines and fees.
    Riffel pleaded guilty on March 19, 2018 to one (1) count of fesisting arrest, a disorderly persons offense. On Jan. 28, police responded to a call regarding a domestic dispute. When officers attempted to place Riffel under arrest, he refused to allow the officers to hand cuff him.
    Riffel was represented by Shaun Morgan Russell, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Jerome Neidhardt.
    Bryan Peine, 30, of Lafayette was sentenced to four years of probation. He was also ordered to attend AA/NA meetings, 10 days of SLAP, maintain full time employment, write a letter of apology to the Byram Police Department, pay a $250 fine and other mandatory fines and fees.
    Peine pleaded guilty on March 19, 2018 to one (1) count of hindering apprehension, a third-degree offense.
    On Oct. 22, 2017, Peine allowed his friend to borrow his motorcycle and found out his friend was involved in a chase with the Byram Police Department. Peine reported the motorcycle stolen in an effort to protect his friend.
    May 1Neale Olree, III, 27, of Newton pleadd guilty to eluding, a third-degree crime, Criminal Mischief, a fourth-degree crime and Careless Driving, a motor Vehicle offense. Sentencing is presently anticipated for June 15, 2018.
    In pleading guilty to the charges, the defendant admitted to purposely attempting to elude New Jersey State Police and, in a separate incident, the defendant admitted to purposely damaging the property of another, specifically by operating his vehicle in such a manner, resulting in damage to the pavement and painted parking lines of Kittatinny Regional High School parking lot.
    The cases were investigated by Trooper J. C. Rodriguez and Trooper J. R. Manee of the New Jersey State Police.
    May 4Samantha Benson, 30, of Newton was sentenced to four years of probation. She was ordered to maintain employment, attend three AA/NA meetings per week, submit a DNA sample, pay fines and fees totaling $1,360, and submit to a TASC evaluation, at the discretion of Probation, follow any and all recommendations made from same and to begin and continue previously arranged treatment.
    She pleaded guilty on Sept. 25, 2017, to unlawful Retention of a Credit Card, a fourth-degree crime, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime. On April 21, 2016, Defendant found a credit card in the parking lot of the Hampton Walmart and retained it with the intent to use, sell and/or transfer it. On July 2, 2017, Defendant was in possession of heroin in Sparta Township.
    Mariah May, 33, of Denville was sentenced to 18 months probation. May was also ordered to obtain a TASC evaluation and follow the recommendations and to pay mandatory fines and fees.
    May pled guilty on January 16, 2018 to one (1) count of Harassment, a petty disorderly persons offense. On Feb. 11, 2017, May was arrested following a domestic dispute with her boyfriend during which she hit him in the head with a broom.
    Harold Hosking, III, 40, of Branchville was sentenced to 180 days in jail with credit for 195 days time served.
    Hosking also was sentenced to four years of probation and orderred to obtain and tASC evaluation and pay mandatoryo fines and fees.
    Hosking pleded guilty on Oct. 10, 2017, to one (1) count of Simple Assault and one (1) count of resisting arrest, disorderly persons offenses. On Aug. 4, 2017, Hosking came home drunk and physically assaulted his girlfriend. He then left the home and went to a bar where police found him. When officers attempted to place Hosking under arrest, he refused to allow the officers to handcuff him.
    Hosking, age 40 of Branchville, was sentenced to 270 days in jail with credit for 190 days time served and loss of driving privileges for ten (10) years. Hosking was also sentenced to four (4) years of probation and ordered to obtain a TASC evaluation, perform fifty (50) hours of community service, and to pay mandatory fines and fees.
    Hosking pleaded guilty on March 26, 2018 to one (1) count of Aggravated Assault, a third-degree offense, one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle During a Period of License Suspension for a 2nd or Subsequent DWI, a fourth-degree offense and one count of Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, a motor vehicle offense. On Oct. 27, 2017, Hosking was arrested after he assaulted a patron at a local bar. Hosking fled the scene and attempted to hide from State Police. Upon arrest, he was found to have a suspended license due to a second or subsequent DWI conviction.
