    June 15 Christopher Kennedy, 32, of Rutherford was sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison for burglary, a third-degree crime, to run concurrently with three years for Theft, a third degree crime, both to run concurrently with existing New Jersey State Prison sentences. He was ordered to pay restitution of $32,628.96 and fines and fees totaling $280.
    He pleaded guilty on April 5, to burglary and theft, both third-degree crimes.
    On various dates during 2017, Kennedy entered cell phone facilities in Hardyston and took back-up batteries.
    The case was investigated by Detective David White of the Hardyston Township Police Department.
    June 15Matthew Schmarr, 36, of Newton was sentenced to three years’ probation with 66 days of jail credit. He also must perform 100 hours of community service, obtain a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, undergo a psychiatric evaluation and follow all recommendations, complete parenting program and comply with all DCP&P recommendations and pay standard fines and fees.
    He pleadd guilty on Sept. 18, 2017, to child abuse, a fourth-degree crime.
    June 18Edward Dorst. 39, of Franklin pleaded guilyt to one count of criminal mischief, a fourth-degree crime.
    Dorst admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and then damaging a vehicle with a knife.
    Sentencing is presently anticipated for Aug. 10.
    June 19Louis Popek, 58, of Newton pleaded guilty to one count of simple assault, a disorderly persons offense and one count of harassment, a petty disorderly persons offense.
    Popek admitted to assaulting his wife in front of their daughter.
    Sentencing is anticipated for Aug. 3.
    June 22Heather James, 40, of Hawley, Penn., pleaded guilty to third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
    Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 3.
    The defendant admitted that when she was pulled over in January for a motor vehicle violation by Sparta Police, she was in possession of 389 folds of Heroin.
    June 25Louis Reed, 44, of Netcong pleading guilty to theft, a fourth-degree crime. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 10.
    In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to taking another’s motorcycle on May 23, 2017, in Byram Township.
    The case was investigated by Detective Robert Tierney of the Byram Police Department and Detective Dean Voris of the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.
    Christopher Cannella, 28, of Morristown pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime.
    Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 10.
    In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to being in possession of cocaine on Nov. 2, 2017, in Sussex.
    The case was investigated by Trooper Saul Escobar of the New Jersey State Police.
