Twins Matt and Mike Kubik, seniors at Vernon Township High School, attended a national CADCA meeting in Washington D.C., where they met with state representatives to lobby for continued funding for substance abuse prevention programs while representing the Vernon Coalition and Above the Influence Youth Group.
They attended various training sessions with 400 other youth who attended along with 3,000 adults, a number of them wanting information on establishing their own youth groups. The mission of CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America), according to their website, is to strengthen the potential of local coalitions to “create and maintain” safe drug-free communities by providing technical assistance ,training, public policy advocacy, media strategies and marketing programs, training and special events.
