Robert James Vitkosky

Robert James Vitkosky, 79 years old, died after a short illness at his home on Thursday, July 5, 2018. Born to Francis and Elizabeth Vitkosky in Perth Amboy, NJ, he had lived in Mahwah, NJ before moving to Vernon Twp., NJ in 1978.
Robert served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and then worked as a truck driver and worked for Mahwah Ford for 15 years hauling new cars and then worked for the Vernon Twp. Road Department for 15 years before retiring in 1996. He was a parishioner of St. Francis deSales RC Church and took great joy in hiking. He was a doting husband, father and grandfather.
Robert was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Vitkosky and his sister, Honey and is the beloved husband for 31 years of Patricia Vitkosky(nee Bader) of Vernon Twp., N.J. Devoted father of Wayne Vitkosky of St. Paul, MN, Al Vitkosky and his wife, Amy of San Diego, Calif., Glen Vitkosky and his wife, Jenny of Bridgewater, N.J.
Step father of Scott Lehnes and his wife, Kate of Hardyston Twp., N.J. Loving grandfather of Grace, Kinsey and Keagan. Dear brother of Dorothy Grezner and her companion, Joseph Hanrahan of Hopelawn, NJ and Mary Nagy of Edison, N.J.
The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94(1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, NJ on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis deSales RC Church, Vernon Twp., NJ. Interment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St. Francis deSales RC Church, P.O. Box 785, McAfee, NJ 07428 would be appreciated.
