Ballyowen hosts Crystal Cup qualifier

The 2nd in the season long Crystal Springs Golf Resort’s Crystal Cup Qualifying series was played under ideal weather conditions at New Jersey’s #1 public golf course, the Ballyowen Golf Club on Wednesday, July 17.
Crystal Springs Members and guests gathered to compete in a 4-golfer team competition in which each team member played their own ball for each hole of the 18 hole competition with the best 2 scores after handicap recorded on the score card. At the end of play the team with the lowest score was determined the winner with the top teams qualifying for the end of season Crystal Cup Championship.
At the end of play the team of Mary Lou Nicoletti, Tony Alfano, Dona Wallerius and Robert Wallerius had carded a winning score of 111. The 2nd place team of Eric Zemsky, Robert Callagee, Mike Criscuoli and Perry Kasturas was just 5 strokes behind with a 116. First place in the Senior Division was won by the team of John Brandt, Jim Conrad, Ed Lemire and Bob Mosier.
Prizes were also awarded to golfers who were closest to the pin and who hit the longest drive. The closest to the pin winner on hole #4 with a shot that came to rest 3 feet 7 inches from the cup with Bob Wallerius winning with a 5’ 4” shot on hole #15. Men’s long drive winner was Bryant Li, with Pete DeGraff taking the win for the Senior Men and Mary Lou Nicoletti hitting the longest drive for the Ladies.
