The BIG Tuesday party at the Black Bear Golf Club on Tuesday, July 17, kicked off at 4 p.m. with a 9-hole 4 golfer team scramble tournament.
Participants began play with a shotgun start with each team member hitting their tee shot followed by the team selecting the best shot of the four and then playing that ball for their next shot.
This format was followed for the play of each of the 9 holes. The scramble team with the lowest score was declared the winner and awarded a prize at the BIG Tuesday celebration.
The winning team scored a 6 under par 30 for the play of 9 holes and included Falk, Styker, Falk and Vollendorf. Additional prizes were awarded for Ladies’ and Men’s Longest Drive and Ladies and Men’s Closest to the Pin.
The Men’s Closest to the Pin winners were Hank with a shot that came to rest 19 feet from the pin on hole #5 and Mike Bellace with a 7 foot 5 inch shot on hole #7. Buffy Whiting was a two time winner with the longest drive for the Ladies on hole #6 and a tee shot that came to rest 14 feet 4 inches from the pin on hole #7. Rich Stryker was the Longest Drive winner for the men.
The BIG Tuesday was a lot more than a golf tournament. The party included a variety of competitions including Dartboard Golf, Good Golf, a Long Drive contest along with music provided by the Stereo Junkies featuring Andrea Nies. Participants also had an opportunity to demo new golf clubs under the professional guidance of Crystal Springs’ James Fox.
The winners of the Big Tuesday contests include: Dart Golf winner Blaine Tierney, Bryan Decker Foot Golf winner and Hughie Gardner Flight Scope Longest Drive winner.
