Dorothy M. Miller

Dorothy M. Miller, age 86, peacefully passed away on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at her residence. Born in West Milford to the late Joseph L. Hand, Jr. and Jennie (Vreeland) Hand, she had lived in West Milford until moving to Vernon in 1988.
Mrs. Miller had been employed by the West Milford Board of Education as a bus driver and retired at the age of 56. While living in West Milford, Mrs. Miller was a member of the Calvary Bible Church and handled the church publicity. After moving to Vernon, she joined the Vernon Seniors and was an active member. Mrs. Miller loved her family and adored her granddaughter and her great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Donald J. Miller in 2016; her son, Ronald J. Miller in 2015; her brother, Joseph Hand; and her sisters, Anna Akers, Betty Reger and Beverly Hand. Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughter, Donna Preziosi of Franklin; her sisters, Phoebe Schnorr of Hamburg, Shirley Riccardi and her husband Leonard “Ricci” of Stockholm, and Hope L. Clark of Hamburg; her granddaughter, Jennie Miller of Vernon; her three great grandchildren, Savannah and Samantha Lumpkin and Alea Ranta all of Vernon. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Interment to follow at North Hardyston Cemetery.
