Vernon falls to West Milford

West Milford High School defeated Vernon Township High School in varsity football on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018. The final score was 44-22.
West Milford quarterback Zackary Milko threw for 135 yards resulting in two touchdowns. He also rushed for 108 yards. In the first quarter West Milford wideout Kevin Schaeffer caught a 17-yard pass from Milko to score the first touchdown of the contest.
Brandon Sanchez ran for a 55-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter, and added on two more rushing scores for West Milford in the second half. Ryan Coyle rushed for 96 yards resulting in one touchdown. He also accomplished two receptions for 49 yards resulting in one touchdown.
Vernon quarterback R.J. Mehr threw for a total of 64 yards resulting in one touchdown. Vernon running back Jeremy Kayhart rushed for 127 yards resulting in two touchdowns.
Team records: Vernon Township Vikings 0-2. West Milford Highlanders 2-0.
