Rangers edge Vikings, 4-3

Wallkill Valley Regional High School defeated Vernon Township High School, 4-3, on Friday, Sept. 14.
In the first half, Wallkill Valley's Dominick Wygonowski scored a goal on a penalty kick to give Wallkill Valley a 1-0 lead. Skylar Hanisch then scored off an assist from Daniel Falk, to push the lead to 2-0. Vernon answered with a goal scored by Adam Hazell off an assist from Nolan Shade to tighten the score 2-1 by halftime.
In the second half, Gage Roberts scored for Wallkill Valley off an assist from Sebastian Mianowski, widening the lead to 3-1. Vernon's Josh Bamper then scored off an assist from Nolan Shade to tighten the score 3-2. Freshman Justin Neal then scored for Wallkill Valley off an assist from Skylar Hanisch to push their lead to 4-2. Vernon's James Pellot scored with 20 seconds left in regulation to make the final score 4-3.
Goalkeeper Ryan Silvestri made 11 saves for Wallkill Valley (1-2-0).
Goalkeeper Ryan Lally made 7 saves for Vernon (3-2-0).
