Vernon honors outstanding athletes

VERNON — The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. honored its outstnading athletes for Week 5 of the fall 2018 season.
Junior Olivia Vizzini totaled 4 aces, 8 kills, 3 assists and 13 digs for the girls volleyball team in the programs first ever win over Kinnelon and a tough 3-set loss to Jefferson.
According to Coach Sorensen, Olivia leads by example with her steady demeanor and consistent effort on a daily basis.
The girls’ volleyball team hopes to clinch a state playoff berth by week's end.
Olivia also is a member of the varsity softball team.
Sophomore Arianna DiMartino of the girl’s cross-country team led the team to victory over Wallkill Valley last week placing first for Vernon.
According to Coach Shenise, Arianna is a true leader and motivates her team to do their very best. She is our leader at practice and her love for the sport is observed each day. She is highly respected by her teammates.
Arianna also competes on the indoor track and softball programs.
