Emil F. Ogrinz, age 87, passed into eternal life with his wife of 57 years at his side on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018. Born in Jersey City on Aug. 2, 1931 to the late Peter and Antonia (Orazen) Ogrinz, he moved to Sussex in 1950 to study at Rutgers at Lusscroft Farm. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Animal Science. Mr. Ogrinz worked at Umbrian Farms in Lafayette and was later a research scientist at Schering and Hoffman La Roche. With his wife and father-in-law, he ran Chrysoma kennels, a breeder of championship poodles. Mr. Ogrinz was a founding member of the Colesville Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the High Point Regional High School (HPRHS) Board of Education for 5 years.
Mr. Ogrinz later owned and managed Software City in Middletown, N.Y. After his “retirement” he worked as an agent for Jeff Parrott Realty in Sussex. A veteran of the United States Army, Navy Reserve, and Merchant Marine, he was always proud of his country. Mr. Ogrinz was a parishioner of St. Monica R.C. Church in Sussex and its Leisure Group.
Mr. Ogrinz was predeceased by his sisters, Mary, Martha, Jean, Vicky and his brothers, Peter and Gabriel.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dorothy; his son, Paul and his wife Nancy of the Colesville section of Wantage; his daughter, Cynthia Eaton of Buford, GA; his son, Michael and his wife Monica of Easton, CT; his five grandchildren, Christopher Eaton, Cayley Eaton, Meghan Ogrinz, Alexis Ogrinz, and Fred Ogrinz and many nieces and nephews. He was riding roller coasters at age 77 and would always be the first to jump into a freezing cold pool with his grandkids. A jokester to the end, he wanted us to know if we ever got a speck of dust in our eye, it would probably be him.
He had a passion for gardening, and will be remembered for sharing plants and seeds with friends and family. Always active, he ran his first 10K with his grandchildren at age 81. He finished first in his age category at the 2015 through 2017 Woodbourne 5k. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, telling funny jokes, Western movies, and spending time with friends. No project was too large or too small for him to offer help. We hope you are relaxing in your recliner up there, but we're positive you are working in the garden with the dogs. He loved his family most of all, and they will miss him forever.
"May the Blessed Mary, as she has been with me in my life, always be with you.” Private cremation services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Monica R.C. Church, 33 Unionville Avenue, Sussex, NJ 07461.
