Highland Lakes Clubhouse hosts car show

VERNON — Brisk autumn air and the love of cars lured serious and mildly interested car enthusiasts alike as the Highland Lakes Clubhouse Committee sponsored a fall car show in its parking lot on Sunday, Oct. 14.
Pride, history and art was stressed, as well as, metal art at its best!
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines the word vintage as being of old, classically recognized, enduring, important and of interest or quality. And that proved correct as 30 autos of various ages, makes, models and conditions were rolled out for the lake community’s first car show. With the absence of car shows at the now defunct Chatterbox Restaurant, perhaps local organizations will see fit to honor the history of the automobile with shows showcasing local residents and their beloved cars.
On display, were restored muscle cars, immaculate inside and outside, preserved roadsters, vintage pick-up trucks and enduring cars not restored or possibly in various stages of restoration that caused one to visualize the past with long gone families taking these cars on Sunday drives or exciting road trips.
One car buff spoke of his 1979 Trans Am and how he and his son are slowly restoring the car and bonding in the process.
“It keeps us engaged,” the Trans owner beamed.
The Highland Lakes Community Association will also be sponsoring a Craft Show and Bazaar on Saturday October 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the clubhouse.
