Denis R. Tanguay, Sr.

Denis R. Tanguay, Sr., 66 years old, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Mount Sinai Hospital, NYC, NY. Born to Pascal and Helena Tanguay in Hoboken, he was raised in West New York, N.J., before moving to Vernon Twp., NJ in 1979.
Denis attended St. Peters College in Jersey City, NJ and then worked as a Bank Manager and Assistant Vice President for Hudson City Savings Bank for 41 years. Denis was a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Francis deSales RC Church, Vernon, NJ. He was active with the food pantry and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He served as a former treasurer and coach for Vernon Twp. Little League and a coach for the Vernon Youth Football League. He took great joy in traveling, hiking, geocaching, trips to the beach and basking in the sun. Denis enjoyed playing golf with his son and family and was a dedicated family man always looking out for others.
Denis is the beloved husband for 40 years of Janice Tanguay(nee Mongulla)of Vernon Twp., NJ. Devoted father of Terrianne Scognamiglio of Stockholm, NJ and Devoted father of Denis F. Tanguay, Jr. and his wife, Bridget of Wantage Twp., NJ. Loving grandfather of Blake and Kylie Scognamiglio and Emma Tanguay. Dear brother of Claudette Connolly and her husband, John and Girard Tanguay and his wife, Rosa. Cherished uncle of Jeanine, Renee, Shawn, Jacqueline and Alexandria.
The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94(1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, NJ on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 at 10 AM. Mass at St. Francis deSales RC church, Vernon Twp., NJ at 11:00 AM. Cremation is private. Memorial gifts to the family for the grandchildren’s education funds would be greatly appreciated.
