NEWTON — The Big Apple Club returns with four of New York City's freshest comedians for a show on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 at 8 p.m.
Matthew Broussard was born in New Jersey, raised in Atlanta and winner of Houston's Funniest Person, Matthew Broussard isn't sure where he's from. In 2016, Matt made his late night debut on Conan premiered his Comedy Central Half Hour Special and competed in both seasons of Jeff Ross's Roast Battle. He is also the creator of the popular play-on-words puzzle webcomic (and app!) mondaypunday.com. Other shows he has appeared on are Comedy Knockout, Adam Devin’s House Party, The League, and The Mindy Project. Matt has also been featured at the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival.
Chris Coccia is one of America's busiest comedians — at home and abroad. Besides being a favorite at America's top clubs like the D.C. Improv and Catch a Rising Star (chain), Chris has entertained American troops on military bases in Korea, Japan, and Guam. Like many great comedians, Chris’ act is based on his life. He culls some of his best material from his experiences as a husband and father. Chris has been seen on Comedy Central’s “Stand and Deliver” as well on Atlantic City and Las Vegas’ best stages where he has worked as an opening act for (among others) David Sanborn, Chicago, and The Oak Ridge Boys. Look for more high profile appearances in the future and beyond from this rising star.
Drew Fraser began his career in Boston at the world’s famous “Nick’s Comedy Stop”. He later moved to New York City where his career took off. His first television Appearance was on “Showtime at the Apollo”. Since then, Drew Fraser has been seen on Russell Simmons “Def Comedy Jam”, “BET Comic View” and his own comedy half-hour special on “Comedy Central Presents”. Drew Fraser has made performances all over the world, including London, Holland, Bermuda, and Australia. Drew Fraser has received numerous awards for his stand- up acts, including the “New York City’s Funniest Male Comedian” award. Drew Fraser has also hosted “Amateur Night” at the world’s famous Apollo Theater in New York City. In addition, Drew Fraser has done warm-ups for TV shows such as “The Queen Latifah Show” and in 2007, co-hosted “P.Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy”. Today, you can see Drew Fraser doing warm-ups for the Tyra Banks show, hosting R&B Live @ Spotlight as well as the “The Wendy Williams Comedy Experience” at Carolines Comedy Club. Whether in a comedy club, musical event or showcase, Drew Fraser has the talent and ability to perform for any group, regardless of race, gender or age.
Mike Speirs’ quick, candid wit is his hallmark. A self-confessed former party boy, he now finds his hell-raising days are becoming a distant memory as he turns to a fresh and funny look at the realities of being a grown-up. There’s the joy and pain of teaching social studies in public school... the big scare of open-heart surgery... and wistful reminiscences about striking out with women in the glory days. Mike’s life is a running reality check, and he gives his honest take on being the guy he is. Mike has been seen at the best venues on the East Coast including Turning Stone Casino, The Comedy Works, Bananas Comedy Club, Catch a Rising Star and The Comedy Connection. Mike was also recently featured at The Great American Comedy Festival at The Johnny Carson Theatre in Norfolk, NE. You'll like Mike. You'll love his humor.
