Alice Roslund, age 66, peacefully passed away on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at the her residence while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn to the late Henry Powell and Helen V. (McNamara), Alice has lived in Vernon for most of her life. She was a substitute teacher for the Vernon Township Board of Education and retired five years ago.
Besides her father, Henry, Alice was predeceased by her mother, Helen V. Walker; her step-father, William T. Walker, Sr., and her brother, Edward Walker. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Ralph E. Roslund; her two sons, Seann Scanlon and his wife Tammy of Concord, North Carolina and Bryan Roslund and his fiancé Kristen of Vernon; her daughter, Jen DeValue and her husband Josh of Vernon; her brother, Hank Powell and his wife Dolly of Pittsburgh, PA; and her cherished grandchildren, Rylee and Grace.
Alice enjoyed spending her time with family and friends, traveling; especially to the beach, and truly enjoyed being a grandmother to her two wonderful grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects to the family for a memorial visitation on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Private cremation services have been held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be offered in Alice’s memory to Karen Ann Quinlan Center of Hope Hospice, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.
