William G. Wales, age 89, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon. Born and raised in Roselle Park to the late Edward and Elsie (Mallander) Wales, Bill moved to Sussex County 35 years ago. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Bill was employed as an Operations Supervisor at Exxon Mobil Corporation in Linden and retired after 32 years of service with the company. He was a member of the American Legion Post 213 of Sussex and a Master Mason of the Loyalty Lodge No. 33 of Clark.
Bill was an avid fisherman, a music lover, enjoyed all animals, and loved raising animals. After his retirement, he became very involved with woodworking. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Edward and Bruce. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Thelma; his sons, William Douglas Wales and his wife Shari of Pennington, Bryant Wales and his wife Carol of Atlanta, Georgia, and Kevin Wales of Prosperity, S.C.; his daughters, Kathleen Wales of Mississippi and Barbara Lynn Thul of White House Station; his step-son, Daniel Flynn of Pa.,; his sister, Carol Anderson of East Brunswick; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Friends may pay their respects to the family one hour prior to the service on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Private cremation services have been held at the convenience of the family.
