Christopher C. Chesnut, 51, of Vernon passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018. Christopher was born in Plainfield, N.J., on Nov. 10, 1967.

Chris was an assistant foreman for the New Jersey Department of Transportation in Netcong. He was an avid hunter, fisher and loved the Giants. He always loved playing poker and sharing laughs. He was outgoing, friendly and hard working. He loved being outdoors, usually on recreational vehicles of all sorts.

Chris was very skilled in a lot of different trades and was always the neighboring helping hand. Chris had a heart of gold and always put others first. He was so easy to get along with and loved his family. Chris spent a lot of time with his granddaughter, Mia and they always alternated painting each other’s fingers and toes. Chris was the rock of his family.

He is survived by his loving wife Maryann Chesnut (Tropona) of 23 years, his children, Jason Peranio and his girlfriend, Destini Wieczorkowski, Nicole Guest and her husband Christopher. He was also survived by his two grandchildren, Mia Peranio and Bryce Guest along with his father Larry Chesnut, and his siblings, Richard Bakunas and his wife Tracy, Samantha Chesnut, Gretchen Kolakowski and her husband Robert, Lorraine Poat and her husband Jeff and many nieces and nephews.

Chris was predeceased by mother, Sandra Lee Chesnut.

His loss leaves a big hole that only love and time will ever fill. There are countless lifelong friends that are grieving with our family. Our special thanks to these friends who mourn with us. We celebrate his life and know that he walks with God today and evermore.

Relatives and friends will be received Sunday at 12 p.m. at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home 241 Rt. 94, Vernon, NJ (GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Court), funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Cremation service private.
