VTHS honors outstanding athletes

VERNON — The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. honored its outstanding athletes for week 3 of the winter 2018-19 season.
The Girls 4x200 relay team consisting of Cynthia Schneider (sophomore), Riley Wallace (freshman), Brianna Hallacker (junior) and Jess Wilkens (junior) set a new school record at the East Stroudsburg Indoor Track Invitational on Jan. 4. They broke the original record set in 2003 by 2.2 seconds.
Junior Andre Pierce averaged 20 points a game last week against Dover and Sussex Tech. He has consistently been the top scorer and rebounder for the varsity boys’ basketball team this season.
According to Coach Byrne, Andre has matured into a dedicated and hard-working varsity athlete. He has also been a steady leader for the program this season.
