Approves of tax money to pay for wall

I am writing in response to Mary Jo Thompson's letter published Jan 9 entitled “Mexico won't pay? So glad you will”. She asks President Trump supporters, “did you ever think that your hard-earned tax money will now be diverted to pay for a wall?”
Ms. Thompson must not be aware that Mr. Schumer, Ms Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, President Obama and 36 other democrats still in congress, supported legislation to pay for border security which included a physical barrier prior to 2016.
Ms.Thompson listed several areas that she believes tax funding would be diverted from (education, health care, veterans, infrastructure, the opioid crisis, etc). I wonder if she realizes that our hard-earned tax money is currently supporting those who choose to illegally and blatantly bypass legal ports of entry, ultimately straining our education, health care, and other systems. (As she said, "taking tax money away from your child's education".)
And so Ms. Thompson, I will answer your question directly. Yes, I would gladly approve the use of tax money to support our current immigration laws, and to decrease the financial strain to the services that you are concerned about. Adding to the barriers/walls already in place would cost our country much LESS than continuing to ignore the fact that we spend much more on providing services to people who illegally and blatantly bypass our legal ports of entry, resulting in less services for those who have legal status. Mr. Schumer and Ms. Pelosi supported using tax money for border security, including a physical barrier prior to 2016. Wonder why? It is because we are not divided on principle. This congressional circus is only about resistance to President Trump.
