VERNON — The Vernon Township Athletic Dept. honored its outstanding athletes for the winter 2018-19 season.

Junior Kyle Hayes is picking up right where he left off last season for the varsity boys ski team. He won his first two races last week and one of those races he led the team to an impressive win over Don Bosco Prep.

Senior swimmer and Captain Emilee Hamler had an amazing week for the girls swim team last week.

In a meet against Kittatinny, she took 5 seconds off in the 200 freestyle and qualified for the Sussex County Championships. She then dropped 19 seconds off her 500 freestyle to place second overall at the Skylands Invitational and qualified for the Sussex County Championships. According to Coach Shirhall, Emilee works incredibly hard each practice.
