Vernon Township High School juniors in Julie Franklyn’s English classes, in conjunction with a unit on “Romeo and Juliet,” created presentations to illustrate various elements of life in England during Shakespeare’s time.
Students performed Shakespearean monologues in costume, prepared Elizabethan foods for their classmates to sample, recreated famous works of Elizabethan art, fabricated shields bearing royal families’ coats of arms, and played period music on keyboard/flute/guitar.
