The Center for Prevention and Counseling was recently awarded one of three statewide New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services grants to improve upon the recovery supports available in our communities.
This new grant will serve to provide additional peer-to-peer recovery support services to prevent recurrence of substance use and promote sustained recovery, bolstering our area with the creation and enhancement of a Community Peer Recovery Center (CPRC) in Sussex County. This CPRC will offer social support and give those in recovery a place where they feel that they belong.
The Sussex County CPRC will also be a place where those in recovery can have the opportunity to give back to their community, thereby fostering senses of empowerment and independence.
To carry out the goals of this work, The Center is seeking additional staff to help oversee these recovery support services. Interested individuals must have two years’ experience in the guiding principles of recovery that assist individuals to improve their health and wellness and also be intimately familiar with the local recovery community and knowledgeable of local social services, businesses, faith-based organizations and neighborhoods. Responsibilities of staff will be, among other duties, the planning, implementing and supervising of events, activities and services that support the mission of the CPRC. Applicants should have strong fundraising and management experience as well as the ability to encourage volunteer outreach and participation.
The Center for Prevention and Counseling has held a vision that Sussex County could one day foster a Community Peer Recovery Center to help individuals and families in recovery thrive. With the addition of this exciting CPRC grant award, their vision will be further realized.
The Center looks forward to increasing the availability of recovery supports in Sussex County and welcomes those interested to join in this community effort and cause. Interested individuals can send cover letters and resumes via email only to Annmarie Shafer at annmarie@centerforprevention.org or visit www.centerforprevention.org for more information.
