The Vernon Township High School Board of Education reinstated spring break, set to take place at the end of April.
With only three snow days used as of Thursday, March 7, the Board of Education unanimously reinstated the break to begin on Friday, April 19 through Friday, April 26. Students will return to class on Monday, April 29.
As long as no additional snow days are used, Superintendent Karen D’Avino said the last day of school is scheduled for Tuesday, June 18.
“Advanced forecast for the week looks good,” Assistant Superintendent Charles McKay said.
Graduation was tentatively mentioned as likely being on Tuesday, June 18, but that won’t be officially scheduled until spring once the threat of inclement weather has passed.
For the 2019-20 school year, Spring Break is already scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2020 until Friday, April 17.
"You get to this point in the school year and it's really necessary,” D’Avino said. “Children are tired. The staff's tired, and it gives everybody a chance to recharge a little bit and finish the year strong. I'd rather see us finish the year strong than go limping to the end."
