A pilot program Farmers’ Market has been initiated by the Greenway Action Advisory Committee. The first April market was rained out, so Saturday May 18 was the first offering. The market will continue every third Saturday of the month until September, according to organizer Toni Cilli.
“This is such a nice, community event, with so many local farmers and businesses,” Cilli said.
There were approximately 20 vendors at the May Farmers’ Market with the promise of local produce and meats coming in June and July. According to Cilli, there is currently no charge for a vendor space.
“We’ll have logos for our Farmers’ Market T-shirts for next year,” Cilli commented.
The new logo was designed by a Vernon Township High School student.
Some of the local businesses and farms that attended were Rose Mountain Chocolates, The Daily Bean, Cactus Pete Beef Jerky, Sue’s House of Fudge, Farmside Garden, Nutty Mama, Top of the Mountain Farm, The Farm at Glenwood Mountain and many others.
