| 23 May 2019 | 01:01

St. Francis de Sales Church will host a benefit concert for a rare genetic syndrome on Saturday, June 1 at 7 p.m.
The list of artists includes professional broadway and opera performers, soloists from the Sussex County Oratorio Society and the Glen Meadow Chorus.
Ticket sales of $10 will help fund the event and DESSH. Combine that with lunch or dinner at Smokey’s Brick Oven Tavern and 10 percent of your purchase will go to support DESSH!
Make a night of it with dinner and music. Be certain to mention the concert to family and friends and let Smokey’s know you appreciate their commitment to our community by dining out on June 1.
DeSanto Shinawi Syndrome (DESSH) is a newly discovered genetic disorder characterized by developmental delay, hypotonia, behavioral problems, intellectual disabilities, feeding difficulty and seizures. Funds are needed to continue the research that first identified the WAC gene mutation, so that a cure can be found.
The DESSH organization is a non-profit that works to educate families to ensure accurate diagnosis through genetic testing and to raise awareness about the benefits of early intervention and the resources and support available to parents, patients and caregivers.
