Vernon Senior Citizens were treated to the delightful and bubbly musical family group, Penny and the Mood Swings on May 28.
Randy (Dad), Amy (Mom) and 13-year-old twins Avery and Julia form the band and the Crafton family, playing various instruments with Julia handling the vocals.
“Who’s Penny? Our therapy Labradoodle. She lends her name to the group and the twins usually cause the mood swings,” Randy joked.
Penny the dog attended the concert wearing her own band T-shirt.
Guest musician Rich Metein joined the mini concert, playing keyboards. The adult Craftons are both professional musicians and moved the family to Vernon two years ago.
“The hardest job we’ve experienced is actually being parents,” Amy stated with a laugh.
According to the group, they like performing songs with positive messages. Songs included Let it Be by the Beatles, songs by Bill Withers and Cat Stevens and two songs by the Carpenters who are favorites of Julia. She did an exceptional job singing Meghan Trainor’s song Dear Future Husband.
The 45- minute mini concert was enjoyed by the seniors. After the concert, seniors also enjoyed a catered lunch by Smokey’s and homemade ice cream sundaes.
