They say that rain on a happy occasion means good luck. Well, on June 18, it poured all day, so the Vernon Township High School graduates of 2019 are guaranteed good luck. The overjoyed, animated graduates certainly had a blast as they cheered, waved to their families and had their last memorable time together in the high school’s packed gym.

Escorted in by bagpiper John Loggie and processing in to Pomp and Circumstance played by the school’s Symphonic Band, the almost 250 graduates listened to several speeches including the salutatory and valedictory addresses by classmates Maxim Yacun and Daniel McKeon.

Principal Pauline Anderson commented on how so many people influenced and served as role models for the senior class.

“Your graduation is truly a milestone in your life,” Anderson told the class. “Please take all you have learned here and do what is right.”

Diplomas were awarded to the graduates by Board of Education President Brad Sparta and Vice- President Justin Annunziata and assisted by Jacquelyn Van Orden and Dr. Eric Kosek.

The song The Greatest Love of All sung by Donna-Nicole Zaiens concluded the ceremony. The 2019 graduates recessed out of the gym again accompanied by the VTHS Symphonic Band to anxiously begin their lives in continuing education, the military or careers.
