Cub Scouts collect flags

Doing their Duty To Country, Vernon’s Cub Scout Packs 183 and 212 collected old and frayed American Flags from all over the Community for the Wallkill Valley VFW Post 8441’s Annual Flag Decommissioning Ceremony. The Cub Scouts from the Pack 183 Bear Den were granted permission by Mayor Harry Shortway to located their collection box in the Municipal Building Lobby making it easy for members of the Community to dispose of their Flags respectfully. The VFW holds The Retirement Ceremony annually in June for Flag Day. Cub Scout Pack 183 is available to collect flags year-round to be saved and retired at the next ceremony.
