Augusta. Miners' Hair named batter of the month

    Sussex County Miners second baseman Trey Hair has been named May's Batter of the Month and New Jersey Jackals RHP Eduard Reyes is May's Pitcher of the Month as selected by PointStreak, the league's official statistician.
    Hair hit .400 (20-for-50) on the month, scoring 11 runs, driving in 10 and knocking six doubles. The 24-year-old had at least one hit in 12 of his 13 games, with multiple hits in six contests, including a 4-for-4 performance against Trois-Rivières on May 23. He was also named Batter of the Week for the week ending May 26.
    With two games in June also taking place, Hair is currently fourth in the league with a .397 average, first with seven doubles and 36 total bases and tied for third with 14 RBI,
    2019 marks Hair’s first season in independent baseball after spending the previous two years in the Tampa Bay Rays organization, reaching as high as Single-A. The Firth, Neb., native was a 37th-round choice by Tampa Bay in the 2017 draft out of the University of Evansville.
