Head to Rivers Edge Horse Rescue and Sanctuary this Sunday to meet some very special horses.

They aren’t the type of horse you ride, but they’d love a pat on the nuzzle and some attention. These horses could have had a very bad fate, but they’re here and living out their lives in a very special place created by Diane Romano.

“It’s going to be and open house vendor event to help raise funds for the rescue horses raising money for hay and basic care,” Romano said. “Covid-19 has truly put a damper on our fundraising efforts we are a small rescue and rely on our fundraising to get us through. We took on three additional horses last year they look great, but they cost a lot of money to get them healthy again.”

There will be food, vendors, activities and the chance to take pictures with Rivers Edge’s horses and goats. Midnight Sun, a Grateful Dead tribute band, will be playing. There is no admission fee, but the Rescue is asking people to bring a non-perishable food item for those in need.

“We would love to see many people come out for our event and see the benefits of helping our rescue succeed and to continue to help more horses in the future and people hopefully through our horses,” Romano said.

The event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, at Rivers Edge, located at 104 Halsey Road in Newton. For further information call 973-600-9766 or e-mail REHRinformation@gmail.com.
