| 05 Aug 2019 | 01:09

The “Thursdays @ the Amp” music series in Wantage is set with four concerts in August and early September.

These performances will be held in the amphitheater at the Sussex-Wantage Library, weather permitting. All these performances are free. Be sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Performances begin at 6 p.m.

On Aug. 15, John Sheehan will start the series. His songs ‘show simple humor, yet say something profound about humanity.’ A long-time local favorite, John is a fine finger-style guitarist who plays in many musical styles.

Series regulars Longchamp & Manzo perform on August 22. Ray Longchamp and Vince Manzo bring back classic harmonies of the 1960’s, singing the songs of such duos as Simon & Garfunkel, Loggins & Messina, and Seals & Crofts.

Playing on Aug. 29, R.E.N.O. live up to their slogan: Play Music, Have Fun, Help Others. “We still write a lot of original songs and are loving the sound of the band more than ever!”

Last in this summer series for 2019 are the Outcrops on September 5. Cassidy Rain (vocals / guitar), Bryan Schroeder (lead guitar), and their band play that rock 'n' roll, as well as blues, funk, R&B, old country, and jazz. Among their influences are the Allman Brothers, the Dead, B. B. King, and Buddy Guy.

The Sussex-Wantage Library is located just south of the Borough of Sussex, at 69 Route 639, by the airport. If weather forces the program indoors, seating in the library’s Community Room will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required.

The series is sponsored by the Friends of the Sussex-Wantage Library (FOTL). For additional information, please check the FOTL websites -- Friends of the Sussex-Wantage Library (Facebook) or www.FriendsofSWLibrary.org - or call the Sussex-Wantage Library at 973 875 3940 before 5 p.m.
