Santa will arrive on a toy-filled train at the Sparta Train Station on Saturday, Nov. 30, to kick off the holiday season with a toy collection benefiting the Toys For Tots Foundation.

In anticipation of Santa’s railway arrival, the Sparta Train Station is hosting a free, family-friendly event at 1 p.m. that allows children of all ages to take part in a variety of festive “make-and-take” craft activities, games, face painting, letters to Santa and photo opportunities in the holiday-themed family photo booth. Families can also enjoy ice carving demonstrations, pony rides and a petting zoo (weather permitting). Performances by local choirs, dance schools and drama clubs are also planned. There will be complementary digital photos with Santa after his arrival on the Train.

Since 2009, Operation Toy Train has operated a special train in northern New Jersey and southern New York during the first two weekends of December. The train collects more than 20,000 donated toys annually for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation, for underprivileged, local children. This is the fourth year that Sparta was selected to be on the route and will be the 8th stop on a train that originates in Rochelle Park, NJ.
