The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. named its athletes of the week for Week 6 of the fall 2019 season.

Freshman Cora Leiter has been a huge addition to the varsity girls cross-country team this year. She has led the girls in almost every race this season and placed first (11th overall) for the Vernon Girls Team last week at the HWS (Hunterdon Warren Sussex) Championships at Phillipsburg.

According to Coach Shenise, Cora is still learning the ropes as a freshmen but she works incredibly hard and improves every day.

Junior Alicia Mihalko has been instrumental in the varsity girls field hockey success this season at the midfield position. She has been a great part of the offensive attack as well as the defensive unit that is off to a 13-2 start. Alicia has contributed 2 goals and 6 assists on the season.

According to Coach Killeen, Alicia has continued to grow in both skill level and confidence during the season. Alicia has also sang the national anthem at both night games this season for the field hockey program.
