Douglas Alan Pettenger

Douglas Alan Pettenger of Lafayette, N.J., passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, at the Newton Medical Center following a long illness. He was 67.

Born in Coral Gables, Fla., Douglas grew up and lived many years in Franklin, N.J. He had also lived in Ogdensburg, N.J., before moving to Lafayette. Following graduation from the former Franklin High School, he attended college in Iowa. Douglas was a construction worker and had retired after his many years with the New Jersey Carpenters Union #254. An avid softball player, Douglas had played for six years with the Ogdensburg Softball League. He enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his niece and nephew. Douglas also enjoyed gardening with his father and brother. He was predeceased by his father Arthur G. Pettenger Sr. in July 2020.

Douglas is survived by his loving mother, Claire S. Pettenger of Lafayette; brother, Arthur G Jr., and his wife, Debbie, also of Lafayette; nieces Julia Pettenger and Donna Stoll; nephew, Kevin Pettenger; as well as his many aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service for Douglas will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lafayette Township EMS #16 Morris Farm Rd. Lafayette, NJ 07848 (LTEMS.org).
