Emilia F. Arvar of Newton, N.J., passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021, at her home. She was 95.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (nee Bianchi) Romeo, she was born in Paterson, N.J.

Emilia had lived many years in Rockaway, N.J., retiring to Toms River, N.J., and eventually returning to Newton to be near family.

Emilia was a graduate of Farleigh Dickenson University and had a long career, retiring as director of sales for Union Camp Corp. in Clifton, N.J. A parishioner of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, she was also a member of the Rosary Society.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grantmother sister and friend to many, she was also an active volunteer with the Newton Medical Center and the Hospital Auxiliary, and Ladies Auxiliary VFW 5084.

Mrs. Arvary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Andrew; a son, Dr. Gary Arvary; her brother Joseph Romeo; and a sister Olga Ferraro.

Survivors include her sons Drew M. and his wife, Eileen, Arvary of Newton; her daughter-in-law Carol Arvary of Blairstown, N.J.; her sister Susie Zisa of Hackettstown, N.J.; as well as her seven grandchildren and 14 great-grantchildren.

A Funeral Mass was held June 11 at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Newton. Entombment in the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum in Saddle Brook, N.J., was to be private.Arrangements were by Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home in Newton.
