Kristina Melicharek

Kristina Melicharek of Hamburg, N.J., passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021. She was 84.

She was born on June 19, 1936, in Myjava, Czechoslovakia, to Elizabeth (nee Kruzic) and John Bician.

Kristina was a faithful parishioner for more than 47 years at Holy Faith Lutheran Church in Oak Ridge, N.J.

She worked for many years at State Farm Insurance Company in Parsippany, N.J., retiring in 2004.

She will best be remembered as a great cook and for her love of geography and history, prompting her numerous traveling trips.

Kristina is survived by her loving children, Paulette Competiello and her husband, Frank, of Oak Ridge, N.J., Paul Melicharek and his wife, Stephanie, of Hackettstown, N.J., and Christine Melicharek of Vermont; her cherished grandchildren, Christine Anna Clouse, Michael Gaetano Competiello, and Jessica Elizabeth Competiello; her adored great-grandchildren, Ashton Higgins, Melissa Lykens, and Kira Lykens; her dear niece, Stephanie Gajar; and her dear sister, Anna Gujar of State College, Pa.

Visitation was held April 2 at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, Newfoundland, N.J. A prayer service was held April 3, at the funeral home, followed by the interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, N.J.
